Nutrition Services

You are what you eat

underline

The Nutrition Department at our Hospital consists of a dedicated team of nutritionist who provide counselling and nutritional intervention essential to our body for our health and general well-being.

The dietary requirements of the human body change as one move through different life and/ or medical stages. The nutritionists translate scientific evidenced-based research on nutrition, health and disease and apply this information to the nutritional needs of patients. This is done by assessing dietary intake and planning appropriate medical nutrition therapy to suit and improve the clinical and health outcome of individuals.

The nutritionists also work together with other healthcare professionals in multi-disciplinary teams. They are also involved in food services, research and community services.

Inpatient / Outpatient

Nutritionist are involved in patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. A patient should be referred to a nutritionist by a doctor when identified for a nutritional assessment.

Upon referral, the nutritionist then does an initial nutritional assessment and develops a nutrition care plan based on the diagnosed nutrition issues. Dietary changes and other factors will be reviewed, and further nutrition recommendations will be provided if needed.

Food Services

Nutritionist are also involved in the development of therapeutic diets and work with the Food Services Department to ensure that food served to patients are nutritious and suitable for different medical conditions.
